Colon Cleansing The Herbal Way
By Indy StewartHerbal colon cleansing is a greatly effective way to maintain a healthy colon that functions efficiently. Choosing the right herbal colon cleansing product can ensure that after cleansing, you will not only feel better, but also look better. The flip side of the coin, however, warns that failing to choose the correct product can lead to health-related problems.
Problems with Ineffective Herbal Colon Cleansing Products
Unlike poorly formulated cleansers, herbal colon-cleansing supplements that have been properly formulated have a soothing effect on the intestines. The ingredients of colon cleansers that have been poorly formulated contain herbs that can abrade your digestive system. As a result, using colon-cleansing products that are poorly formulated can result in diarrhea or the occurrence of blood in feces.
The date of expiry is a problem with some herbal colon cleansers. This is because some companies tend to extend this date further than the safe limit. Added to this, some stores purchase products that are close to their dates of expiry in order to gain more profit. Not only are herbal products near or beyond their dates of expiration less affective, but can also become rancid to cause complications with the digestive system.
Additives like sweeteners or artificial colors in some cleansers can be another problem. It is best to avoid these products. Artificial color additives can even cause cancer or worsen asthma. Artificial sweeteners often result in additional sludge and mucus accumulating in the colon, on top of what you are already trying to clean out.
Although only one herbal laxative ingredient like Psyllium, Senna or Cascara Sagrada is present in many colon cleansers, these substances have been reported to be harmful to the digestive system, especially the intestine. A good quality herbal cleanser can do the job without worsening the condition of the bowels.
Merely producing stool at a high rate and enhancing bowel movements (as some products are able to do) does not make a herbal cleanser effective in performing its primary task – to cleanse the colon. Herbal colon cleansing cleansers that hospitals use before colonoscopy do cleanse the intestinal lining effectively. Not only are they inefficient in cleansing the colon, but can also be dangerous. A major side effect can be diarrhea. This can result in loss of electrolytes from your body, upsetting its ionic balance.
Herbal colon cleansing products that induce diarrhea may result in frequent visits to the bathroom, but this can subsequently cause dehydration leading to physical weakness. A worse side effect can be a total loss of control over your bowels leading to discomfort and unnecessary embarrassment.
