Revamp Your Conservatory with New Blinds

By Paul McIndoe

Having a conservatory can add a lot of value to your home, as well as provide you with precious additional space; however, without a bit of attention to detail, it can be easy for them to quickly start looking past their best. Therefore, it can be worth investing a little bit of time and money in making your conservatory one to be proud of.

Take conservatory blinds, as a prime instance. You may not have given much consideration to yours, but it is surprising what the effect of having the right window adornments can be. Indeed, your conservatory is individual in both its design and function and as such, your blinds should reflect this. So, if you think you’re conservatory is looking a little tired, maybe it’s time to revamp your blinds.

When choosing what blinds to install, there are various considerations to keep in mind. For example, what is the primary function of your conservatory? Is it a living room, an office or a playroom? In determining the purpose of yours, it will help to figure out what kinds of blinds are the most appropriate.

Generally speaking, there are three different types of blinds available; pleated, Pinoleum and Venetian. However, within these categories there are a vast amount of styles and colours to choose from, meaning it is easy to create a unique and tailored look for your conservatory.

Pleated blinds, according to the experts, are the traditional choice and are often the best option for conservatories - this is due to the fact they can be handcrafted to fit different shapes and angles. As such, they are ideal for conservatory roofs and are considered to be the most versatile of any of the blind types.

Pinoleum or wood-weave conservatory blinds on the other hand, are great for creating a classic look. There are a huge number of different designs and style combinations to choose from, and they produce an attractive dappled light effect on the room.

Designed to fit each individual window pane, venetian conservatory blinds are another option to go for. They are very simple to use and provide you with excellent light and glare control. They are also available in a variety of colours and styles; metal for instance, and work well with both pleated and pinoleum roof blinds.

Another consideration when choosing conservatory blinds is how you want to operate them. Traditionally, they were activated with cords and strings, but due to advances in technology it is now possible to operate them via remote control. There are a variety of options available too, such as being able to control individual blinds, or setting them on a timer.

Therefore, it pays to take your time when considering the type of blinds that are best for you and your conservatory, and before you know it you will have your conservatory looking as good as new.
